The students in the AWPL Senior Furniture Design course toured Georgia Chair as an introduction into manufacturing of solid wood furniture goods. Ga Chair has been in business for over 100 years making solid oak chairs and other furniture pieces. The students were given an in-depth explanation of the traditional methods of production and construction.

The senior design studio continued their trek to manufacturing facilities with a stop at Geiger International. Geiger is a maker of high end office furniture that utilizes a vast array of high-tech methods in production. Here, our guide shows the students a sample of veneer edge banding while explaining the process of veneering. The students also saw the CNC line and finishing line.
