Cascade Chest

Designer: Alan Harp

Spring 2007

Photography: Alan Harp

Inspired by a sketch from the designer's sister in law, Kerry Wilkerson, the chest is designed as a playful, yet elegant piece. The 65" tall casework is made from 2 sheets of Baltic Birch plywood cut on a 3 axis CNC router. The curved sides are kerfed 1/4" baltic birch plywood sheets. Gracing the face of the chest are solid cherry drawer fronts with solid maple inlay flowing from drawer to drawer. The piece is finished in a jet mahogany stain protected by numerous coats of Waterlox Tung Oil.

The Cascade Chest was exhibited in the Furniture Society booth at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair in New York City, May 18-22, 2007.
